After Brexit, you will no longer be able to use the United Kingdom’s VAT Mini One Stop Shop (MOSS) system to declare sales and pay the VAT due in other EU member states.

Follow the steps outlined below to update your VAT MOSS country settings and/or enable the United Kingdom (UK) in your Taxamo dashboard.

What to do if registered for VAT MOSS in the UK

  1. If you intend to continue using the VAT MOSS system, you will have to register with another EU member state.
  • Once registered you will need to update your ‘MOSS country’ in the EU MOSS settlement report (Dashboard > Tax Regions > EU VAT Settings)
  • Update your account billing section with your new registration details. Note that your new VAT MOSS number will be used on your EU invoices/credit notes.
  1. If you have decided to add the UK as a new country - follow these steps:
  • New region: Enable the UK as a new tax region. Go to ‘Tax regions’ in the Taxamo dashboard. Click on ‘United Kingdom’ to enable the UK as a new tax region.
  • United Kingdom VAT settings: In the ‘Tax regions’ setting you can add your UK VAT registration number.
  • B2B settings: In the ‘Tax regions’ setting you can also configure the treatment of your B2B sales. Note: This is an optional setting.
  • Invoicing and credit note templates: Taxamo will provide default invoice templates. However, you can still configure your own invoices.

If registered for VAT MOSS in a non-UK country

  1. If you are already registered for VAT MOSS in an EU Member State outside of the UK then you have no action to take.
